Les Arcs is a high-altitude resort located in the Paradiski area in France. Actually comprising of four different resort units, the resort offers a variety of accommodation options to suit your ski or snowboard holiday needs. The resort is located at over 1600m, and the skiing area ranges from 1200-3225m, including 200km of piste that are served by 51 lifts and kept in great condition by over 200 snow guns. At this height, Les Arcs has a well-deserved reputation as a snow-sure resort, and the panoramic views that take in Mont Blanc are breath-taking. If you're one of those skiers than refuses to ski the same piste twice then not to worry, as the cable car to La Plagne gives access to the full 425km of Paradiski piste, and day trips to Val D'Isere, Tignes and La Rosiere are possible. Skiing and snowboarding in Les Arcs has a lot to offer: long, rolling descents are just round the corner from steep and narrow slopes. Beginners are well provided for by free lifts that allow access to nursery slopes and ski-school meeting points, but watch out as the resort does not use the green slope classification, and so easy blues (which do exist!) are the place for beginners to progress. More experienced skiers, on the other hand, will enjoy the blacks and difficult reds, as well as the easily accessible off-piste. One of the great things about Les Arcs is that slopes of differing difficult sit closely side-by-side, making it easy for mixed ability groups to ski together. Boarders are somewhat spoilt, and great off-piste, wide slopes and a ski park (called Apocalypse Parc) to rival the setup in Avoriaz, make a snowboard holiday in Les Arcs a real excitement.
Discover a great variety of accommodation, whether you're after a luxury chalet in Les Arcs or a more affordable ski-in/ski-out apartment
Les Arcs is actually a group of four modern resort units, each of which is purpose built, car-free and largely apartment dominated. Each cluster has its own character, as Arc 1600 and Arc 1800 (the largest) are at the level of the tree-line, Arc 1950 is more recently developed and planners have taken the time to create more of a charm than exists in the others, and Arc 2000 is the highest (actually at 2100m). There are plenty of ski-in/ski-out apartments in Les Arcs. Given that there are in fact four different areas from which to choose, it's not surprise that there's a lot of variation: catered luxury chalets, self-catered apartments and catered chalets in Les Arcs are all on offer. Again, off-the-piste entertainment varies depending on which area you choose, but there are restaurants and bars in all four (Arc 1800 has better nightlife options than the others), as well as bowling, pools, spas and cinemas.
