Many people enjoy staying on the attractive wooded slopes of Morzine but prefer to ski the reliable world-class pistes of Avoriaz. We have managed to unify these ideals with Chalet Clovis – a real ‘chocolate box’ chalet constructed to the highest standards in 2007 and located in the sought-after hamlet of Les Prodains. From here it is possible to be in Avoriaz within minutes on a new super gondola, and the spectacular snow sure ‘Crot’ piste from Avoriaz finishes just around the corner (more experienced skiers can easily ski back to the door).

Chalet Clovis is a cosy property sleeping up to 9 in 3 bedrooms and can be booked on a ‘per room’ basis or at a discounted rate for sole occupancy. Our prices include a dedicated Chalet Host to serve breakfast and filling 4 course evening meals with beer and unlimited wine. There will also be freshly baked cake waiting for you upon your return from skiing!

Location

Chalet Clovis sits in a spectacular spot in the hamlet of Les Prodains, at an altitude of 1200m and a 5 minute drive (2.5km) from Morzine at the head of the Vallee des Ardoisieres. The terrace to the rear offers views back down the valley to Morzine and leads on to acres of wide open space for sledging and building snowmen in the shadow of the magnificent Hauts Forts – the highest peaks of the Chablais region. Just beyond the chalet the road runs out and the only way is up! The resort of Avoriaz is perched on top of the cliffs and can be reached quickly via chairlift or the new jumbo gondola constructed in the summer of 2012. From Avoriaz a blue piste with reliable snow cover runs all the way back down to Les Prodains and more experienced skiers will be able to leave the piste to ski across the snowy field to the terrace of the chalet.

Anyone still wishing to access Morzine for skiing or après ski can do so by bus and the ‘A’ Line runs every 10 minutes between Morzine and Les Prodains. That said; when it comes to après ski or chalet night off there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk in Les Prodains. The nearest is just 150m away and we can recommend some great options to suit all tastes from traditional Savoyard fayre to pizza or steaks. With the cable car opening late in to the night why not even head back up to Avoriaz for high-altitude drinks and/or dinner?!

Facilities

A quadruple bedroom with its own shower and WC facilities occupies the whole of the top floor under the sloping roof whilst the middle floor has one twin ensuite bedroom alongside the open-plan kitchen / dining space. On this level a beautiful big terrace and balcony can be accessed – ideal for relaxing in the sun with a cold beer whilst our Chalet Host prepares delicious 4 course dinners. The third bedroom is at street level and can easily accommodate three people. Once again there is a shower room and WC on this level, as well as laundry facilities and a ski room.

All rooms are traditionally decorated in keeping with a winter wonderland, and yet the chalet benefits from creature comforts such as underfloor heating, Wi-Fi internet and a full size table tennis table! The jewel in the crown is the newly created ‘Carnotzet’ – a basement room that is traditional in Swiss homes and can only be described in the modern world as a ‘chill out’ area. In the past such a room would have been the domain of the men folk to drink, sing and play games after dinner, but nowadays it is accessible to anyone wishing to relax in a comfortable seat whilst making use of the big-screen TV/DVD cinema system!
