Chalet Gove is our converted farmhouse nestled in the pretty Lessach valley in the Lungau region of Salzburg, Austria. Providing much more than the traditional catered 'Chalet Experience' we (Alan & Maria Gove) are here to tailor your winter or summer holiday to your needs and really look after you, giving as much help and advice as you require.

With a mix of traditional and modern features Chalet Gove provides space, comfort and a relaxing, real home from home feel inside, and a sunny garden with wonderful views outside. It really is beautiful here; the area is steeped in tradition and a sustainable way of living, recognised in 2012 by UNESCO when they awarded the area Biosphere park status.

In winter - we have access to four wonderful ski/board areas with tree lined, un-crowded slopes, superb mountain bars and restaurants with non-inflated prices, all covered under the Lungo ski pass. With its unique positioning the Lungo ski region in Salzburgerland guarantees you snow and excellent skiing from the end of November through to the start of May. All slopes are on pastureland requiring less depth of snow and with fewer people on the slopes, it lasts a lot longer. A wide variety of slopes and different areas to ski provides something for all abilities and a choice depending on weather conditions. Non-skiers are also well catered for with lovely snowy walks, swimming pools, spas and places to visit, plus it is easy to meet up with skiers for lunch on the slopes.

In summer - step out the door and breathe in the fresh clear air and decide what to do; you are at the start of numerous walks, hikes, cycle or mountain bike rides. A few minutes down the road and a whole range of activities are available to you, be it white water rafting, horse riding, golf, outdoor activity centres, swimming pools, spas, museums or castles - all guests staying with us receive a free Lungau card entitling you to free or discounted entrance to all of them.

Location

1 1/2 hours drive from Salzburg airport, Chalet Gove is in the centre of the village of Lessach.

We are a 3 hours drive from Linz, Munich and Vienna airports. We are 12 hours drive from Calais.

The nearest town is Tamsweg, 8 mins away by car. Tamsweg is the main town of the Lungau area complete with a beautiful square surrounded by excellent shops and restaurants.

In winter simply step into our minibus from the equipment room and a short scenic drive later we will drop you a few steps from the slope; no carrying of skis! Door to slope (literally) we are approximately 20 mins away from three ski areas Katschberg/Aineck, Grosseck/Speiereck and Fanningberg and 30 mins away from the large commercial resort of Obertauern. All four areas are covered under the Lungo ski pass.

In summer we are perfectly located for walking and cycling, both directly from our doorstep and with numerous other activities just a few minutes drive away.

Facilities

We have four spacious en-suite bedrooms, with either twin or king size and super king size double beds; all rooms have plenty of hanging space and drawers. Three of the rooms can comfortably take an extra single bed, set of bunk beds or a cot. Each room has an English extension lead with 4 sockets and a hair dryer.

The modern en-suite bathrooms each have their own drench shower, under floor heating and heated towel rail. Hand and bath towels are provided.

We have a large homely lounge with comfortable seating to relax in. It has a flat screen TV with computer run media centre with a wide selection of music and films, Wii machine, books and board games. Just off the lounge is a small area with soft drinks, tea and coffee making facilities, guest fridge, and a table football.

We have a dining room which is available to guests as a separate room away from the lounge, when meals are not being served.

We have a heated equipment room for storing skis, boards, boots, rucksacks etc. with heated boot shelves and glove warming compartment, plenty of shelving, coat hooks and a seating area for changing in and out of your boots / walking shoes. Sledges are available and we have storage for bikes and golf clubs. The equipment room leads directly to the garage and our minibus.

We have a guest utility room with sink, drying rack, iron and ironing board, plus a washing machine and tumble dryer for which there is a small charge.

Free wifi is available throughout the house.

Outside, the garden with gazebo and decking is available for you to sit in and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful views.

We provide transfers to and from Salzburg airport in our minibus, for up to 8 people, and take and pick you up from the slopes each day - this is included in the winter price. Groups of 9 or more will need to arrange a hire car and driver; the group pricing will be amended to help pay for this.

Transport is not included in our summer prices but is available, please contact us for a price. There are parking spaces available outside the Chalet for anyone driving to us.

All our meals, bread and cakes are home made from fresh, using local and organic products wherever possible and are tasty, hearty and wholesome. We are happy to cater for vegetarians and if possible other dietary requirements. Breakfast and afternoon cake is provided every day, a 3-course evening meal is provided on 6 out of 7 nights in winter and 5 out of 7 nights in the summer. Complimentary wine is served with the evening meal.
