ALPE D'HUEZ - Oz en Oisans
Review provided by a previous Chaletfinder advertiser.
Summary
Oz is a great village, at the centre of the Grandes Rousses (Alpe
d'Huez), 250km of pistes. With 5 lifts in Oz; 2 hi-speed lifts to the
centre of the ski area and 3 village lifts for beginners & tobogganers.
A self contained resort with ski school, shops, restaurants, bars and
heated pool.
Description
Nestling at 1350m, the village of Oz is right at the heart of this
marvelous ski area with modern lifts up to 3300m. Runs include the
world famous Sarenne, at 17km, one of the longest blacks in the
world.

With 250 km of pisted runs, snow parks and lots of off-piste areas, Oz is a great
resort for all levels of skiers. The village has 3 easy lifts serving green
runs, which are often floodlit in the evenings for skiing and
tobogganing. The 2 hi-speed telecabins will take you to the main ski
areas towards Alpe d'Huez or Alpette. There are several excellent
piste side restaurants for lunch, or ski back to Oz.

The routes back home to Oz are via Reds and Blues with Roche Noire
a short steep black run, an exciting alternative for the more
experienced skier. There is no need for buses or cars at the end of the
day just ski straight to one of the bars in Oz to relax, then a very
short walk home.

Oz is lovely family resort and has everything you need for a
successful holiday from nursery & heated swimming pool to laundrette
& cheese shop including bars, supermarket, ski schools, restaurants
and the Grotte du Yetti party bar, which is underground so it does not
disturb the village ambiance.

Oz is car free all winter and there is plenty of free roadside parking; a
car will not be required during your stay.

Oz has invested heavily in snow cannon and you will be able to ski
home throughout the season. Buy your electronic ski pass on the
internet in advance.

Grenoble and Chambery airports are the closest and served by the
usual budget airlines but why not take the TGV into Grenoble rail
station.
