Maison La Cerisaie is a blend of traditional Alpine character and modern design in a magnificent setting only 70 min from Geneva airport.

  • Maison La Cerisaie is a newly renovated 1830s stone farmhouse and luxury chalet next to the slopes in Sixt Fer à Cheval, 70 minutes from Geneva airport and 10 minutes from Samoëns.

A short ski to the Sixt lifts, the chalet combines stylish contemporary design and spacious comfort with traditional charm. It is open year-round, offers 4 en-suite bedrooms for up to 12 people, and has a hot tub on the garden terrace. Sally-Anne and Simon own and manage the chalet personally and spare no effort in ensuring that all our guests experience a truly memorable holiday, including top-quality food and wine. We also offer bed and breakfast in the spring to autumn months or you can reserve the whole chalet on a self-catering basis.

In winter our catered service includes chauffeur-driven transport to and from the Samoëns and Morillon lifts in our own 4x4 minibus.

Maison La Cerisaie is designed for comfort. A huge, covered outside porch leads into an inside entrance lobby with separate areas for skis and boards, coats and boots (with boot warmers). From here you enter a large, triple-aspect living space, with superb mountain views and a central wood-burning stove. The living space includes separate dining and TV areas.

Upstairs, the four bedrooms all have luxury en-suite bathrooms with rain-effect overhead showers and hand-showers, heated towel rails and under-floor heating. There is a mountain view from each bedroom and high-quality, solid wooden beds. Sleeping arrangements are flexible, allowing various combinations of double, twin and family rooms. For infants, cots and high chairs are also available.
    Other features are:

    • Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers.
    • Bathroom products by L’Occitane en Provence.

This is one of the most accessible areas of the French Alps. Geneva airport is only just over an hour away and serves around 100 destinations, including most of the UK’s regional airports. We can arrange all forms of transfer to and from the airport. In winter our catered service includes chauffeur-driven transport to and from the Samoëns and Morillon ski lifts in our own 4x4 minibus.

For those arriving by car, Maison La Cerisaie is about 8 hours’ driving time from Calais.

We help with hiring ski and sports equipment at local discounted rates, and obtaining lift passes.

We can also arrange childcare and babysitting as required.
  • Maison La Cerisaie is located in a spectacular spot with direct views of mountains and waterfalls.

For skiing, it’s a 5-minute walk or 2-minute ski to the idyllic Salvagny slopes. Those skiing further afield can return home from Flaine on the 14km Piste des Cascades, which finishes just opposite the chalet.

In summer, access to a huge network of walking and mountain-biking trails begins literally on the doorstep. These are mostly within Haute Savoie’s largest nature reserve, offering nature lovers and ramblers the opportunity to see some 800 different species of alpine plants as well as alpine ibex, chamois, marmots, ptarmigans, and large birds of prey both on and off the marked trails. In a mountain face opposite the chalet is the nest of a pair of bearded vultures, one of Europe’s largest and rarest birds, who hatch a chick every spring and teach it to fly above our heads.

The vicinity of the house is very safe for children, and there is a large open meadow just across the road. The Cascade du Rouget waterfall, known as the "Queen of the Alps”, is easy 40-minute walk from the chalet. The village centre, with its shops, bars and restaurants, is just down the road.

    Local Area

Sixt Fer à Cheval is an historic, living and working village in one of the most naturally beautiful areas of Haute Savoie. An Alpine sports centre for over 150 years, it is also recognised as one of the five “Plus Beaux Villages de France” (most beautiful villages of France) in the French Alps. 80% of its territory is within the largest Nature Reserve of Haute-Savoie and it takes its name from the ‘Cirque du Fer à Cheval’, a huge limestone amphitheatre of cliffs and waterfalls 700m high.

In winter, Sixt is one of the 5 ski resorts of the Grand Massif, France’s fourth-largest linked ski domain. The village ski area by the chalet provides 32 km of local pistes – perfect for beginners and children, but also including blue, red and black runs. It's a short 5-10 minute drive in our own 4WD minibus or the regular free ski bus to the Grand Massif Express gondola in Samoëns, which gives direct access to another 230km of pistes in the rest of the Grand Massif ski area. From the Grandes Platières summit above Flaine, you can ski the extraordinarily picturesque 14km Piste des Cascades all the way down to Sixt, 1700m below, finishing close to the chalet.

As well as skiing, the village is wonderfully positioned for a wide range of mountain leisure activities, in both winter and summer. These include walking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ski touring, rock and ice-climbing, via ferrata, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, cycling, horse riding, pony and donkey trekking.

Sixt also offers a choice of restaurants and bars, shops with regional products, ski equipment and clothing for purchase and rent, and a traditional French bakery. These are complemented by the amenities on offer in nearby Samoens.
