This luxury split-level chalet sleeps up to 12 people in five stylish en suite bedrooms, with accommodation set over three floors.

When you enter on the ground floor, you'll find the ski room, garage and a useful laundry room as well as the first of the bedrooms - a bunk room for four with a private bathroom and separate WC. This room also has a sofa and TV, with space for younger guests to do their own thing.

The sleek open plan kitchen has all the equipment you need to cook up a hearty dinner for your group, and there's plenty of room to enjoy it at the large dining table. This area opens on to a sunny balcony with stunning mountain views. The spacious living area is a few steps up, and has plenty of cosy seating with faux fur throws and cushions around a welcoming fireplace and the television. Doors open onto another balcony, where you can relax on the sunbeds or a delightful hanging chair.

There are three double en suite rooms on the first floor, as well as a second living room with a bathroom, balcony and access to the hot tub. The final bedroom, an en suite double room, is on the top floor, and has its own balcony.

Chalet Sandjeman is less than a kilometre from the pistes, and just a few steps from the ski bus, so you can be in the heart of the Portes du Soleil in no time at all.

The region's 12 ski resorts offer 650km of slopes and almost 200 lifts, so there is plenty of choice for skiers and boarders of all abilities. This winter sports paradise crosses the border into Switzerland - experienced skiers will enjoy the challenge of the infamous Swiss Wall, one of the fastest descents on any piste map.

If you're not a skier, there are plenty of other ways to keep busy. Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or tandem paragliding, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride. Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.

There's just as much going on in Morzine in the summer, when the slopes and mountain trails become a paradise for mountain bikers - put your bike on the ski lift to go up the mountains and save your energy for the adrenalin-filled descent. Walkers can take advantage of the lifts too, to discover high-altitude trails and stunning views.

Morzine has earned Famille Plus status for its excellent childcare and entertainment, making it a great choice for young families. The village, and neighbouring Avoriaz, have great water parks and two summer sledging runs. The Indiana adventure park offers a range of assault courses to suit all ages, and other activities include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking and hiking.

Small children (and big kids!) will love the village of Les Lindarets, where goats wander freely — it's a great place to stop for lunch too.
