A bit about the chalets
Both chalets are new builds although in the style of old traditional Savoyard chalets with authentic lauze roofs (thick slabs of irregular slate that have to be hammered into place). They were built between 2006/7 by an English builder and his team who has lived here for over 20 years. The chalets have been welcoming guests since 2007. Chalets Merlo and Pecchio are situated in the unspoilt village of Le Miroir, a small hamlet within the commune of Ste Foy. Both chalets enjoy wonderful clear views across the Tarentaise Valley and Mont Pourri. There are dozens of hamlets that make up the commune of Ste Foy and Le Miroir (the mirror) is a protected site. The origin of the name is debatable: some say it is a derivative of mourir (to die) reflecting the terrible epidemics and plagues that ravaged Europe in the Middle Ages. However, it is nicer to think that the beauty of this village, whose windows reflect the midday sun, earned it its pretty name. Le Miroir is renowned for it-
