Serre Chevalier is in France’s Hautes-Alpes region which is France’s only area in the alpine chain that is situated entirely in the mountains making it the highest ski area in the Alps. The ski area covers six different Boroughs and 12 villages and is one of the biggest ski resorts in France and Europe.  With 250kms of groomed pistes, there are plenty of slopes for everyone from beginners to expert skiers.

Other winter activities on offer in the resort include Nordic Walking, Hot Air Ballooning, Air-bag Freestyle, Paragliding, walking and lots more.

There is a wide range of restaurants in Serre Chevalier, both mountainside and in one of the many resort villages so there is plenty of choice to choose from regardless of your budget.  The mountainside restaurants are predominantly canteen style restaurants with self service facilities catering for a large clientele, but there are a few a la carte restaurants on offer.

Nightlife in the resort isn’t very lively and tends to revolve around the bars spread over the 12 villages. Some have live bands and some play music.  The resort villages of Briancon has the largest choice of bars while Villeneuve has the liveliest après ski and is home to the best nightclub in the area.

Serre Chevalier is in the most northern point of the Cote d’Azur province and benefits from a true Mediterranean Alpine climate with over 300 days of sunshine every year.  Enjoy the beautiful scenery and try out one of the many activities that the region has to offer, like hiking, hill walking, mountain biking, or paragliding, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.  Why not visit Monetier les Bains with its natural hot springs that bubble up from the river Guisane, where people have been coming to take waters since Roman times.
