Pila is a modern, purpose-built resort in the Aosta valley in Italy, and sits above the Roman town of Aosta. A number of chairlifts and a cable car rise out of the resort up to the slopes, and once you're up there you've got 70km of piste served by 14 lifts. Once at the top, not only are there great views - Mont Blanc to the west and the Matterhorn to the east - but at high-altitude (reaching 2740m) you've got a snow-sure guarantee for your ski holiday in Pila. Ski some of the best piste and off-piste the Aosta Valley has to offer!
The slopes are below the tree-line, meaning that you're skiing on pretty wooded slopes that provide great shelter when the weather's bad. The area is best suited to intermediate skiers, with a good range of blues and reds. Beginners are provided with a spacious area in which to learn, and there are plenty of slope-side restaurants and bars for parents to wait for their kids! Experienced skiers and snowboarders in Pila have off-piste areas, tree skiing and a snow park to go at. If you want to stretch your legs, then Courmayeur, La Thuile and Cervinia are nearby, easily reachable for a day trip.
