St. Gervais is an authentic alpine village dating back to the 19th century, when its spa water drew visitors. Located down the mountain from Megeve, the resort sits at an altitude of 850m although its slopes vary between 1150m and 2350m. 65km of piste are on offer in the area immediately surrounding St. Gervais, served by 53 lifts and over three-quarters of the area is covered by snow guns. Beyond this, the greater Megeve skiing area is accessed by a telecabine at the edge of the town centre, which gives access to 325km of piste, served by 84 lifts and kept in great condition by 485 snow guns. No matter what your level of skiing experience, you're sure to find what you're after in St. Gervais! For beginners, nursery runs and greens are immediately accessible from the main cable car out of the village, as well as at valley level. Group and individual tuition is available from a variety of ski schools. More experienced skiers will an excellent range of reds and blacks, while the most adventurous skiers can head off-piste to make fresh tracks on virgin snow. If you're interested in doing some cross-country skiing, there are 40km of trails to choose from. Snowboarding in St. Gervais is similarly suited to all abilities, and the greater Megeve area is especially well suited to beginners, with wide, gentle runs and plenty of chairlifts.
