Whenever you decide to visit, you'll find this a great base for your mountain holiday - there's plenty of choices for walkers, bikers or skiers, and the nearby Nyon cable car which can be accessed by bus will whisk you into the heart of the mountains in no time at all.

It's a great choice for families - children will love having their own TV room in the basement, leaving the adults free to enjoy their evenings in the stylish living area or on the terrace.

The owners have transformed this traditional but comfortable chalet with their own sense of fun - bold colours and quirky accessories make this a great home from home.

The accommodation at Chalet Eveleen is set over three floors, with five bedrooms and four bathrooms.

As you enter on the lower ground floor, you'll find yourself in a spacious entrance hall with a useful bench seat, where you can take off all your outdoor gear. There's also a shower room with wc on this floor, as well as a laundry room and a ski room with a boot dryer. Young guests will also love the TV room on this floor, filled with floor cushions, stools and a huge squishy sofa, where they can do their own thing while the adults relax upstairs.

Head up to the open plan living area, where you can relax on the cosy sofa around the open fire or head out on to the terrace / garden. There's a dining area here and a compact but fully-equipped kitchen. There's also a double bedroom on this floor with an en suite shower room and a separate toilet.

There are four more bedrooms on the first floor: a double with en suite bathroom / wc and access to the balcony; another double and a twin both with balcony access. There's also another twin bedroom under the eaves. These three bedrooms share a bathroom with wc.

Chalet Eveleen is the Vallée de la Manche area, between Morzine and the Nyon telecabine. It's a quiet area, but the proximity to the telecabine means its well served by the shuttle bus, which will take you into Morzine itself. The telecabine gives you easy access to the Les Gets and Morzine ski areas.

The Lac des Mines area at the end of the valley is a great place for ski touring or snow-shoeing, and in the summer there are beautiful walking trails through the forest. There's also a very popular off-piste ski run which ends here.

The town of Morzine is in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, with 650km of pistes some of which cross the border into Switzerland, so there's plenty of choice for skiers and boarders of all abilities.

If you're not a skier, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema often shows films in English. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area's frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride.

Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park offers a variety of activities for all ages.

In the spring and summer, the lush green slopes around Morzine become a haven for walkers, mountain bikers and thrill-seekers.

The lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, leaving you to come back down at your leisure. Take a picnic, and make a day of it! Morzine has earned Famille Plus status for its excellent childcare and entertainment, so it's a great choice for young families. There are superb water parks in the town and in neighbouring Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledge runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages.

Golfers will find excellent courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz. Other activities include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing and kayaking. You can also take advantage of the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, offering unrestricted access to the full range of family activities.
