• Property Description

This spacious modern 3 star chalet is in the quiet residential area of La Mernaz, in Morzine. It's about 1km from the centre of the resort, and overlooking the Le Pleney and Nyon slopes.

Bought by the owners in 2012, it has been recently renovated and refurnished with high-quality materials, and offers ideal accommodation for a large group with young children - close to all commodities yet tranquil. A car would be useful when you stay at Chalet La Martre des Pins, but it's just a 20 minute walk into Morzine, and the ski bus stops about 400m away, so it's not essential. The Nyon cable car is about 700m away. The chalet is surrounded by trees and sloping grass (not enclosed), so there's plenty of space for children to let off steam.

The owners of Chalet La Martre des Pins have thought of everything you'll need for a comfortable mountain holiday. Set over three floors, the chalet sleeps 12 people, with three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a children's room with two sets of bunks (top bunks not suitable for children under 6 years old). There are two shower rooms and a stylish bathroom, which also has a separate shower. Downstairs, the newly-fitted kitchen has a breakfast bar and is open to the dining area, which is big enough to seat everyone together. The cosy living room has a woodburning stove and is the perfect place to gather after dinner. The living area opens on to a large balcony, with stunning views on to the slopes. There's a smaller balcony upstairs, accessible from 2 of the bedrooms - the perfect place to enjoy your morning cuppa! On the lower entrance floor, there's a heated boot rack and a laundry so you'll always be ready for another fabulous day in the mountains.

A quiet mountain with great skiing in every direction.
Chalet La Martre des Pins is around 700m from the Nyon ski lift that links Morzine and Les Gets, and the ski bus stops 400m from the chalet so you can be in the heart of the Portes du Soleil in no time at all. The region's 12 ski resorts offer 650km of slopes and almost 200 lifts, so there is plenty of choice for skiers and boarders of all abilities. This winter sports paradise crosses the border into Switzerland - experienced skiers will enjoy the challenge of the infamous Swiss Wall - one of the fastest descents on any piste map. If you're not a skier, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and a stunning new indoor swimming pool complex. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or tandem paragliding, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride. Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park just a short walk away offers a variety of activities for all ages.

Enjoy action-packed days or relax in the sunshine in this outdoor paradise.
There's just as much going on in the Portes du Soleil in the summer as in the winter. The slopes and mountain trails become a paradise for mountain bikers - put your bike on the ski lift to go up and save your energy for the adrenalin-filled descent. Walkers can take advantage of the lifts too, to discover high-altitude trails and stunning views. Morzine has earned Famille Plus status for its excellent childcare and entertainment, so it's the perfect choice for young families. There are superb water parks in Morzine and Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledging runs. The Indiana adventure park, just a short walk away, has a range of assault courses to suit all ages, and other activities in the area include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking and hiking. Small children (and big kids!) will love the village of Les Lindarets, where goats wander freely - it's a great place to stop for lunch too. With so much to do, why not book another week?

Climb the mountains, cruise the lakes or just enjoy the views.
Morzine and the neighbouring resorts of Les Gets and Avoriaz offer plenty of variety for a holiday, whatever the time of year, but if you venture a little further, there's plenty more to discover. The Portes du Soleil resorts cross the border with Switzerland, giving you two countries and two cultures to experience, and the pretty spa town of Evian-les-Bains, on the banks of lake Geneva, is a great destination for a day out. From there, you can take a boat to other lakeside towns such as Lausanne and Montreux. In Chamonix, just an hour's drive away, you can take a ride on the second-largest cable car in the world, and take in the spectacular views from Mont Blanc. In summer, the breath-taking drive over the mountains to Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, one of the most beautiful villages in France, is worth a day trip. With Geneva airport just over an hour's drive away, Morzine is easily accessible for a weekend or short break, but with so much to see and do, you're bound to want to stay longer. You can also take advantage of the Portes du Soleil Multi Pass, offering unrestricted access to the full range of family activities, at an exclusive rate of 2euro.
