Mayrhofen is a town in the Zillertal in the Austrian Capital state of Tyrol and sits between the Penken and the Ahorn mountains. The resort is one of the most popular resorts in the Alps for Brits with holidaymakers using the resort for more than 100 years and has just been named “Test Winner” in the 5-star Ski Resort category by, the world’s largest ski resort test portal. 

Mayrhofen has skiing all year round and offers 136kms of groomed slopes (all of which have artificial snow-making machinery for times when there is less snowfall) and 57 state of the art lift and cable car systems.  The Mayrhofen ski area opens daily from 8am – 4pm so there is plenty of time to explore the ski slopes and have fun.  Not only can you enjoy skiing in Mayrhofen, other winter activities include sledding, ice-skating, cross-country skiing or tobogganing.

Mayrhofen offers a range of Local Cuisine and international food to suit all budgets and taste.  There are Chinese, Italian, Pizza, European, Central European, German, Pub and Bar restaurants offering a wide range of menus from traditional dishes to seafood and more exotic food as well as a self-service restaurant near to the top of the Knorren chairlift which offers large portions and is excellent value for money.

The après ski scene of Mayrhofen is well renowned and can be lively and in your face with thriving nightlife and has 23 bars and 3 nightclubs. Each bar and nightclub play’s an eclectic mix of music from local Austrian party tunes to Europop and cheesy disco but there are also places to go if you would like a more peaceful evening and if you do not want an atmosphere too crazy. There is even a pub which sells British Beer.

Mayrhofen isn’t just known for its fantastic skiing, it is also known for its amazing annual Snowbombing festival.  This is a week-long celebration of electronic music and has the world’s best DJ’s and electronic artists flock her to dance, party ski and have fun in the magical atmosphere of Mayrhofen.  In summer holidaymakers can take advantage of the 532km of hiking trails in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, where you can enjoy the stunning nature and wildlife or the 800km of cycling trails along winding lanes, dreamy valleys, secluded mountain lakes and varied alpine landscapes.  Mayrhofen also offers a variety of climbing experiences, golf, paragliding, hand gliding and parachuting all with an incredible alpine view.
