Samoens is a traditional, authentic village set in a pretty valley and is part of the Grand Massif ski area.  The Grand Massif ski area is made up of 5 interlinked resorts and has a total of 265km of pistes, the majority of which are north facing which leads to great snow conditions.  There are 3 snow parks in Grand Massif, with one of them being in Samoens itself, with 50% snow making coverage.  Ski access from Samoens is a short bus ride from the centre of the resort and at the end of the day all skiers and snowboarders must take the gondola back down to the resort.

Samoens offers a wide range of activities other than skiing including; speed riding, ice climbing, snowmobiling, paragliding and helicopter flights.  For those looking for a bit of relaxation, there are a whole range of spa treatments and therapies to enjoy from massage to yoga and reflexology.

Food/Restaurants info

There are many restaurants in Samoens both on the mountainside and in the village and most of them have a good reputation and use locally sourced ingredients to produce traditional mountain favourites like raclette and fondue using handed down recipes.  There is a huge variety of establishments ranging from large cafeteria style buildings to tiny wooden chalets offering table service, so there is plenty on offer to suit everyone’s tastes and budget.

Drinks/Bars info

The village doesn’t normally get too crowded in the evening, however there are a few places that can get lively.  There are around 10 bars in Samoens, with twice as many bar-restaurants, so there is plenty of choice available, however you wish to spend your evenings after a long day skiing.

Summer info

Samoens is well known for being a winter paradise, but the resort is also one of the best destinations in the French Alps for summer holidays.  With lovely temperatures, great scenery and a whole host of activities to enjoy, you will have the perfect summer getaway.  Samoens, Morillon and Sixt play host to a variety of outdoor music events, festivals and fireworks displays so there is plenty in the area to entertain all day every day.
