Zermatt is one of the world’s best ski resorts and lies at the foot of the famous Matterhorn.  The resort itself is glamorous and is one of the few resorts that manages to combine high altitude skiing with a pretty resort village.  As a car-free resort, skiers will have to expect to do some walking, however, there is a good electro-bus transit system which is free with the lift pass and a good way to keep walking to a minimum. Zermatt has over 200km of pistes so for families, intermediates, experts and ski tourers, it sits up with the best.

If you wish to take a break from skiing there are a whole range of other activities to enjoy, like tobogganing on the highest toboggan run in Switzerland, sightseeing in a helicopter or paragliding over the mountains.

Food/Restaurants info

Dining in Zermatt is fantastic, varied and plentiful.  There are over 100 restaurants to choose from, on the mountain as well as in the town centre.  Due to the proximity to Cervinia, there is a very strong Italian influence, so pizza and pasta are always available.  No matter what you fancy you can’t go wrong in Zermatt, just watch out for the price tags at some of the larger restaurants on the main streets.

Drinks/Bars info

Apres ski in Zermatt is known for being very lively and filled with people who want to have a good time. The resort has over 60 bars and countless clubs for guests to let their hair down and enjoy themselves, although there are a few hotel bars for those wanting a more sedate and relaxing evening.  It can be quite expensive so make sure you have plenty of money on you.

Summer info

Zermatt is a year-round destination and is as popular in summer as it is in winter. A mountain summer can be experienced in lots of different ways, so why not try summer skiing, hiking or mountain biking?  Or visit one of Zermatt’s mountain lakes with its crystal-clear waters and have a go at Water skiing, fly fishing or relax on Leisee beach with its stunning views of the Matterhorn.  Whether you fancy a relaxing holiday or an adventurous one, Zermatt has enough to keep everyone entertained.
