Zermatt is one of the world’s best ski resorts and lies at the foot of the famous Matterhorn. The resort itself is glamorous and is one of the few resorts that manages to combine high altitude skiing with a pretty resort village. As a car-free resort, skiers will have to expect to do some walking, however, there is a good electro-bus transit system which is free with the lift pass and a good way to keep walking to a minimum. Zermatt has over 200km of pistes so for families, intermediates, experts and ski tourers, it sits up with the best.
If you wish to take a break from skiing there are a whole range of other activities to enjoy, like tobogganing on the highest toboggan run in Switzerland, sightseeing in a helicopter or paragliding over the mountains.
